The challenge of motherhood

As I write this I am 6 days out from the due date of our little one, starting a family is a huge transition for people, it's a big change as you bring a tiny human into the world for many reasons.  One you and your partner are going to go through a range of changes as you get ready for this tiny little creature that basically can do nothing and needs you to do everything for it. Two as the pregnant person your body goes through a mass amount of changes, this varies from person to person and can affect every aspect of your being! Three baby items just take over, it doesn't matter how much you try and streamline the items you're bringing in, or how much storage space you create it just seems to be everywhere!  As hubby and I took on the adventure of family life we have also gone through these changes, the last 9 months have been a journey of learning about my changing body, getting ready to care for a tiny human, making space for said tiny human to live and trying to navig...

Merry Christmas and here's to 2024

As 2023 comes to an end and the Festivities have been in full swing, I want to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.  This year has been filled with mini adventures, the challenges of pregnancy, the journey of navigating a new job role and fitting in general health and well being as well. As for 2024 well that is a whole new adventure!  In my older years i have never really been one for new years resolutions but i do like the idea of making commitments and agreements with myself, and each year they are usually just things that i want to continue working on to continue to support and improve myself, so rather than giving up chocolate or hitting the gym every day I usually focus on things like, lets make sure i focus on my sleep routine, take on more adventures and make sure i move a little daily.  These are normally my big three, there are may things I want to work on and goals come and go, things change and plans get adjusted, fo...

Chapter one: not so far from home

The plan set, the route planned and the campsite booked. Tomorrow I will be taking on the first adventure of a 10 km hike followed by a night of camping, Chris invited along to join me opts for a bike ride to the camp site, we plan the kit and as we were going together we decide to ditch the tarp as he could carry the tent, the bonus of this it won't impact my kit list.  On route I had made plans to take on some Geocaching, there were quite a few on the path I had picked and most of the route was familiar to me as I had been down it before. Saturday morning came the bag was sorted, breakfast eaten and clothes ready to go, It wasn't a super early start which gave me a chance to finish any odd jobs before leaving.  The route itself was 10 km of trails, cycle paths, field crossing and country lanes, the weather was pretty warm and nice and dry, and added bonus to the route. I took water on route and snacks to nibble on. I had removed some of the items i knew i definitely wo...

Catching up on the last few weeks....

Hi!  It's been a while, actually it's been over a month..... So life got a bit busy, work got busy, and the weekends just kinda disappeared...but here's what I have been up to over the last month and a bit!  January was my last time at working working in my old place, before I took on a new role somewhere else, that started in feb, but in between the job changes, we also went on a training camp over to #girona!  We enjoyed long rides, trail runs, fantastic coffee and just taking in the sites. The pace of life is different there and the days are more at ease, it took a bit of adjusting when we got back!  Once we got back I started my new job, I've been in it about a week and a half now and it's quite possibly the most epic start to a job I've ever had. Despite everything going on its an exciting role and I'm so happy to be there.  We wrapped up this week by getting up at 4am and driving 2 hours to go for a run and a ride up a big hill 🙃 apparently it's ...

Welcome to 2023

Welcome to January, and welcome to the adventures of 2023! There is a lot going around about 'new year new me', and 'lets make this my year', but this year I'm just going to focus on doing what i do best, working hard, living life, taking on challenges and enjoying the journey!  2023 starts with some plant care and getting back into the swing of the morning routine and kicking in the workouts. I did my first early morning run in a while and got out to enjoy the peace and the quiet before the bustle of the day, first day back at work fell on the Tuesday too and despite the busyness it felt good to get back into a pattern, not that i really spent a lot of the Christmas break not doing things.   The rest of the working week went by, and so did the evening and morning tasks, I started some focus on my study days a new task as I progress through 2023 and did some work on strength as well as ticking off the days of Red January. Roll around to the weekend and I took on m...

Wrapping up the year and getting ready for 2023.

Just a quick post to check in and wish you all a very happy new year!  The last few days have been focused on getting some moving and running in, having a good sort out ahead of the new year and getting some studying done for my SENCO course, I have also spent some time getting myself in the right head space and organised for some big changes in 2023.  Now I dropped the new year new me a while a go and I am not claiming 2023 as my year, because years come and go, and starting new things in January is a stupid idea, when basically it just makes sense to keep moving forward, and this is something I'm going to spend more time doing, just keeping on moving forward, because if you don't, you stop, and if you stop, you don't make progress .  So 2023 will see me continuing the following;  Working on my blog,  focusing on my routine to be the best i can be,  developing my running skills and personal skills  and continuing to work towards managing the ski...
