Nearly nine months.... nearly time to go back

Hey guys its Jess here,  Today I just want to share a little about where we are now!  We are nearly nine months old! This is very exciting, but very daunting as it also means it's nearly time to go back to work, I am excited as I am stepping into a new role, but also a little anxious, I've been out of the game for a little while, wrapped up in the cosy bubble of being a Mama, and now i need to tackle the challenge of learning to be a Mama AND a teacher.  This week we have been doing settles at nursery, he has done so well, of course there were tears, its to be expected, its very different settling in to nursery, even if they have been to lots of play groups, spent time with family without you present or been around lots of new people. It can be a little overwhelming to be in a new place with new faces, smells and sounds and then to realise your Mama or Da isn't there? I would cry too!  Saying that though, early years educators work really hard to help new littl...

Merry Christmas and here's to 2024

As 2023 comes to an end and the Festivities have been in full swing, I want to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.  This year has been filled with mini adventures, the challenges of pregnancy, the journey of navigating a new job role and fitting in general health and well being as well. As for 2024 well that is a whole new adventure!  In my older years i have never really been one for new years resolutions but i do like the idea of making commitments and agreements with myself, and each year they are usually just things that i want to continue working on to continue to support and improve myself, so rather than giving up chocolate or hitting the gym every day I usually focus on things like, lets make sure i focus on my sleep routine, take on more adventures and make sure i move a little daily.  These are normally my big three, there are may things I want to work on and goals come and go, things change and plans get adjusted, fo...

Chapter 4: Run, Ride Work?

Welcome back to the adventure bag challenge and and adventure with a difference, with the ever growing bump the adventures will become a little difference, though I still plan to get out for a big hike before baby, and the back pack will be used for the training camp.... I hope.  This weekend I packed my bags a little different and the clothes I chose were a little less adventure and a little more glam, this weekend was my works award ceremony, an annual ceremony where we recognise and award various people, like the Oscar's on a smaller scale.  So bags packed, hotel and train book and an eye watering amount and away we went, the event was held in Manchester and despite a weekend of planned train strikes I had very little issue with actually getting from A to B, it was both nice and weird getting on the train I normally take home but staying on as it gets to my stop.  I opted for an earlier train to avoid to many issues and started my journey about 5.30 am, hitting M...

Catching up on the last few weeks....

Hi!  It's been a while, actually it's been over a month..... So life got a bit busy, work got busy, and the weekends just kinda disappeared...but here's what I have been up to over the last month and a bit!  January was my last time at working working in my old place, before I took on a new role somewhere else, that started in feb, but in between the job changes, we also went on a training camp over to #girona!  We enjoyed long rides, trail runs, fantastic coffee and just taking in the sites. The pace of life is different there and the days are more at ease, it took a bit of adjusting when we got back!  Once we got back I started my new job, I've been in it about a week and a half now and it's quite possibly the most epic start to a job I've ever had. Despite everything going on its an exciting role and I'm so happy to be there.  We wrapped up this week by getting up at 4am and driving 2 hours to go for a run and a ride up a big hill 🙃 apparently it's ...

It's been a couple of weeks.....

Hi guys,  Jess here and it has been a few weeks since i have checked in! 3 weeks after the start of feeling Ill and I am in a much better place with my health! I mean I am still ill with a few symptoms and sniffles but I did actually manage to get out for a run today!  So this Blog is actually going to be a short one, the last couple of weeks have been resting, recovering and getting ready for Christmas, so I just wanted to take the chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year and I will check in with you closer to the new year after hopefully a week of adventures!  Thanks for reading,  Scribble back,  Jessie xxx

Still ill.....but i got my new book!!

Hi guys Jess here,  and as the title of this blog states, I'm still Ill. It is now sitting on my chest and in my sinuses, I'm hoping this means its the end, but as I have still be battling the symptoms it has meant another week of no running or cycling, or any workouts for that matter other that a short stretch.  This week started off with fatigue then quickly turned to lungs full of what felt like tar, generally the mornings are worse that the evenings, but the hardest battle is the pain in my throat and ears! I'm still on just about everything hoping to kick it and trying to get rest and take it easy, the down side is I'm also constantly exhausted, so where i should have had days off to do festive things i was instead just lounging around feeling sorry for myself, although we did go to the secret speakeasy party, mostly because we had already paid for the tickets and secondly because it wasn't a party party, it was a sit down and listen to chilled music kinds par...

The start of the festive challenge and a week of no running......

Hiya guys Jess here,  This week didn't go to plan, it was suppose to be a week of smashing out training, starting the festive challenge and getting to the Christmas work event, instead it was a week of a back injury and then a cold, flu lurgy type thing......  So the start of the week went well, till i realised part way though Monday that I have pulled a muscle somewhere in my back, either the top or the bottom, all i know is it hurt the whole left side of my back and triggered my sciatic nerve... that derailed the first half of the week, its mostly gone now with just the occasional twinge but i spent the last 11 years of my life battling on going back pains, aches and niggles, its just part of my life.  come the second half of the week and everyone at work is coming down with all i can describe as is the flu, that really snotty, chesty, lurgy that make you feel like utter crap! With most the team being hit by it and not feeling well we postponed the Christmas party in pl...
