Chapter three: Early morning walk

Its a cool November morning, the darkness still surrounds me and the ground is damp from a few days of rain, the bag packed I make my way along a familiar route to catch the world waking up and enjoy a hot chocolate. Come with me as I take you on Chapter three of the Adventure bag challenge!  Good morning!  Not that it's light enough to see yet, but I have some kit in my bag, a head torch for the darker patches and the route I'm taking is a familiar one, some of the key rules I have for hiking/running in the dark. Today I'm going on an early morning stroll for some site seeing and breakfast, it's also a good excuse to get myself up and moving with bump.  We are about 21 weeks along now and bump feels heavier most days, I have a support band which I can wear on busier days, running sessions and when I know I'm going to be out for a long time on my feet, it helps to take some of the weight.  Today I'm taking about a 6/7km hike, with a stop in the middle for a hot...

Chapter two: An Inner City adventure

An adventure with a difference, not all adventures are in the wilderness, Today we took our time exploring part of the city, specifically Oxford!  We have lived near Oxford and worked there at Various parts of our lives, but never fully explored, we always take the same paths, routes and have done the same things, but today we explored new places.  We started with a slow paced easy breakfast and a hot drink, watching the world go by before heading off to see our first sight of the day. Christchurch, We had seen the gardens plenty of times, and most of my literary tours include it, but we haven't actually been inside, with the tickets purchased and collected we lined up ready to go in and see the inside of Christchurch.  Christchurch is famous for various films parts of filming as well as sources of inspiration around a range of stories including alive in wonderland, it is home to students currently going through their studies but is still open to the public to tour for a ...

Chapter one: not so far from home

The plan set, the route planned and the campsite booked. Tomorrow I will be taking on the first adventure of a 10 km hike followed by a night of camping, Chris invited along to join me opts for a bike ride to the camp site, we plan the kit and as we were going together we decide to ditch the tarp as he could carry the tent, the bonus of this it won't impact my kit list.  On route I had made plans to take on some Geocaching, there were quite a few on the path I had picked and most of the route was familiar to me as I had been down it before. Saturday morning came the bag was sorted, breakfast eaten and clothes ready to go, It wasn't a super early start which gave me a chance to finish any odd jobs before leaving.  The route itself was 10 km of trails, cycle paths, field crossing and country lanes, the weather was pretty warm and nice and dry, and added bonus to the route. I took water on route and snacks to nibble on. I had removed some of the items i knew i definitely wo...
