Mountain adventures and a weekend of filming.....

3.30 am alarm rings.... turn it off and roll back over, not ready to wake up yet, doze back off and eventually drag myself out of bed just before 4 am.

Spending time getting ready for the next adventure, running kit on, breakfast made and coffee in a take away cup, pack the bag with bits i need and sort out my 33 fuel gel for the run, sort out some tail wind and water and they gather it all together, 4.20 ish heading out the door off on our next adventure.

Its dark out, not to cold, but not overly warm, bundle the bags in the car and put the bits in the front we need access to and then off we go, today we are going to wales, off to hike up Pen Y Fan, one of the three mountains/peaks i will be taking on in April, its and early start to get to our parking destination for 7 am, all in aid of an early start to the hike, the car journey is long and dark, but cosy with the layers of clothing.

Arriving at the storey arms car park we park up and jump out the car for a stretch and to get organised, we have plans to meet friends who are due to join us for the hike, its cold, windy and i dont have as many layers on as i would like. I throw on my joggers over my leggings and swap  to my long sleeve base layer then get in touch with my friend to let them know we are here, in my lack of planning for the weekend we hadn't actually change numbers, we had said we would be here for 7 but were happy to wait, i haven't heard anything from them, we wait around for a bit, get mentally and physically prepared, sort the cameras and then drop another message at 8 to say we are heading up we will catch them next time. Layered up we head up the path aiming for the summit of Pen Y Fan, as my internet signal kicks back in i get a message though, 'sorry on call last night got a call out, only just woke up' well wishes send and message replied to we continue on route.

The path we took to Pen Y Fan, saw plenty of inclines, steps, and some flattened out parts, we hit a gate then dropped back down heading toward a stream to cross, i needed to remember this part for when we took it on in April, though they will be under different circumstances and i wont mind getting my feet wet. After the stream we started climbing again, the higher we got the less visibility we had and the wind picked up, closer to the top the wind was getting worrying, we didn't have half as many layers as the hikers we had seen on route, i made the decision to stop and turn around, we were about 1 km from the summit of Pen Y fan, not a huge distance but a long trek up hill and the wind was more concerning than the walk, plus we had gone a decent way, got in some good training and managed to get some good footage, we we headed back down, as we did the wind dropped, the vision got clearer and our legs get more sore, reaching the bottom cold and achy we dip into the car to change and then grab some food from a near by burger van before starting the long journey home with  a coffee stop on route.

This weeks adventure was a good way to get in some training experience another of the peaks i am going to be facing and also get some good footage, it was a great way to spend time together and challenge ourselves too! Today (Sunday) we are taking a more relaxed approach with rest, coffee and easy sessions.

so that was this weeks adventure, well that and normal life any way

thanks for dropping by,

scribble back,

love from

Solo bike ride and Squirrels

Hey guys,  Welcome back to the adventure blog! A weekly Blog where I share with you my adventures through sports, fitness, life and everything in between! This week I want to share my first solo bike ride, well it's sort of my first solo bike ride.  Okay so background check, its not my first time riding solo on a bike, I use to do it to and from work, and I've been round the park several times on my own, and growing up back home I was always out on the bike, but this was my first solo bike ride that was just a bike ride, not a commute, but a self navigated bike ride, on a road bike, by myself.  I am not as confident a cyclist as i was growing up, but growing up I always stuck to paths or trails and there were a lot less cars, where I live now is busier for cars and I generally try to stay off the path unless its a cycle path, this has meant working my way through building my confidence on a bike.  Chris has taken me out on several bike rides, some long ones som...

Wind down week and keeping plants alive......

Double post this weekend guys! (only just got round to posting my Halloween one)  This week has been a mostly chilled one with a week of lighter work outs and more rest before I kick start my first hard week of three, I'm going to be following a three weeks on one week off system, so 3 weeks of harder efforts and then an easier week, the easier week will still have runs and rides, just a lower intensity.  This week I have also been working on my plants, I dropped a small fortune on plant care stuff, pots and an orchid but I finally have everything i need to complete my indoor gardener badge, so all i have to do now is keep them alive till January.... If you're wondering what i am on about talking about badges, I am working through the Rebel Badge book  a book that gives you tasks to do to earn badges much like scouts or guides but for adults! Its a fun little book with a great community around it.  So one expensive shopping trip and a huge mess later I have all...

Where did my baby go?

(contains amazon associates link)  Hey guys, it's been a while!  My last post was a little before my return to work, were are now half way through  2025!  So where are we? Well little man isn't so little, at 16 months he is in full blown toddler hood, we walk, run, climb, scream, babble, and have super sass (gets that from me), we get frustrated at not being able to do things but want to be into doing everything! He has been at nursery for about 7 months now and has fully settled in found his confidence and loves every day! We have had our fair share of illnesses, accidents and art work and we are currently preparing for the transition to the next room.  As for me, I've settled into being a Mama and a Teacher, I've reflected on my life and started making adjustments, I have also had my fair share of illnesses (though not as many as the boy) and I'm surviving, not quite thriving, but getting closer to the threshold.  What have we been up to? Lately? trying t...
