Chapter 4: Run, Ride Work?

Welcome back to the adventure bag challenge and and adventure with a difference, with the ever growing bump the adventures will become a little difference, though I still plan to get out for a big hike before baby, and the back pack will be used for the training camp.... I hope.

This weekend I packed my bags a little different and the clothes I chose were a little less adventure and a little more glam, this weekend was my works award ceremony, an annual ceremony where we recognise and award various people, like the Oscar's on a smaller scale.

So bags packed, hotel and train book and an eye watering amount and away we went, the event was held in Manchester and despite a weekend of planned train strikes I had very little issue with actually getting from A to B, it was both nice and weird getting on the train I normally take home but staying on as it gets to my stop.

I opted for an earlier train to avoid to many issues and started my journey about 5.30 am, hitting Manchester for earlier morning this gave me more than enough time to settle in ditch my bags and grab a drink before heading out for a walk around the Christmas Market with the rest of the team when they arrived. The market was quite nice, busy, and cold but good fun, even got a few treats for the family.

Slowing down for the late afternoon and after feeding mum and bump I started to slowly get ready ahead of the awards ceremony. all glammed up and ready to go lets get the party started!

It was nice to see some of the other settings and the event itself was pretty good, I'm glad I made a weekend of it as well, it really added to the adventure side of it, we managed to get an award out of the group of us and enjoyed a meal, some dancing and meeting some friendly faces, every one enjoyed a drink and letting their hair down and I pretty much stuck to Alcohol free Heineken, it was the only option they had other than soft drinks, if I'm honest with the vast range of Alcohol free wines, spirits and beers that exist now I'm surprised big convention centres don't don more to add a few more options, especially to cater for non drinkers, pregnant people or those who are designated drivers.

Still one to have is better than nothing :) The party got into full swing around 10 ish? but I decided to make a move, didn't have my dancing feet on and after quite a lot of travel and walking baby was getting heavy, so I stepped out about half past and decided on an earlier night ahead of a nice morning run.

Sunday morning, alarm went off but not being in my own bed always disrupts sleep, so i turned it off and just let my body do what it needed, about 7.15 more alert up and ready to go I got ready for a short run, I have planned a 5 km route before travelling up but actually though it would be nice to see a bit more of the market, so I decided to run most of the market route, it was about 2 km over all, not far and a nice short jog to wake me up, then quick shower pack and on to breakfast! Can't go wrong with a full cooked breakfast!

Now I find myself caffeinated, fed, and on the route home, should get back about lunch time so more than enough time to get some jobs done, and I have a lush window seat so as I travel through the more northern areas I can enjoy seeing the snow on the ground!

Well I'm going to leave it there, Chapter 5 will either be a walk or a run, depending on what i decide to do. There will be a video to go alongside this Blog which I will add post blog to the base of this but it will mostly be in reel form rather than a full video, still i hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for reading,

Scribble back.

Lots of love

Jessie.

Where did my baby go?

(contains amazon associates link)  Hey guys, it's been a while!  My last post was a little before my return to work, were are now half way through  2025!  So where are we? Well little man isn't so little, at 16 months he is in full blown toddler hood, we walk, run, climb, scream, babble, and have super sass (gets that from me), we get frustrated at not being able to do things but want to be into doing everything! He has been at nursery for about 7 months now and has fully settled in found his confidence and loves every day! We have had our fair share of illnesses, accidents and art work and we are currently preparing for the transition to the next room.  As for me, I've settled into being a Mama and a Teacher, I've reflected on my life and started making adjustments, I have also had my fair share of illnesses (though not as many as the boy) and I'm surviving, not quite thriving, but getting closer to the threshold.  What have we been up to? Lately? trying t...

Merry Christmas and here's to 2024

As 2023 comes to an end and the Festivities have been in full swing, I want to take a moment to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy new year.  This year has been filled with mini adventures, the challenges of pregnancy, the journey of navigating a new job role and fitting in general health and well being as well. As for 2024 well that is a whole new adventure!  In my older years i have never really been one for new years resolutions but i do like the idea of making commitments and agreements with myself, and each year they are usually just things that i want to continue working on to continue to support and improve myself, so rather than giving up chocolate or hitting the gym every day I usually focus on things like, lets make sure i focus on my sleep routine, take on more adventures and make sure i move a little daily.  These are normally my big three, there are may things I want to work on and goals come and go, things change and plans get adjusted, fo...

Lets start a new adventure.

This is only the second time I have had to face him crying as I left him. The first made sense, he was overtired and hadn't napped. This one was a different cry, this was a protest because he knew I was going to walk out the door and not be there. This one hurt me. I do however have the benefit of seeing it from both sides, there is a skill to dropping your child off at nursery the first few times, you have to remain calm, confident, make it quick.  If you linger too long, look nervous or get upset they pick up on it. Quick drop offs help everyone, parents don't linger and get upset as long, babies are easier to settle and nursery workers get more time bonding.  Seeing the sadness hurts though, the cry is different, it hits heart strings you never knew you owned, and you hold back the tears till you're out of view. I cried all the way into town and then some more whilst I ate fried egg on toast.  Deep down I know he's fine, I know he will settle and get distracted a...
